On March 7, 2025, the University of Calgary (U of C) hosted its second annual Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Gala on the eve of International Women’s Day. This event celebrated women in STEM, the achievements of the WISE organization, and the 35th anniversary of WISE.

Attendees enjoyed music, dinner, drinks and dancing at Carriage House Hotel and Conference Centre.
Three Pasonites attended the gala: Amira, Manager of Rig System Testing, Paula, Senior System Test Analyst, and Pardis, Manager of Datahub Tier 3.
Overall, the event was a great time. Amira said that these types of events are a great way to meet other women in the industry.
“Events like these allow us to acknowledge and celebrate progress women have made over time,” Amira said. “Meeting so many incredible women who have established careers and the ones that are just beginning their journey is absolutely rewarding.”
Paula added, “"It is important to attend events like this to support other women, especially those aspiring women in STEM."
The WISE club was established in 1990. With over 1,300 members, it is one of the largest student-run organizations on the U of C campus, devoted to promoting diversity and equality in the science and engineering disciplines.
