  • Meet Julie, Software Developer

  • Manager

December 7, 2023

Swimming, boating, paddleboarding. That’s where you can usually find Pasonites Julie in the summertime. The Software Developer Manager loves being on the water, doing an activity or socializing with other Pasonites.

For the past five years, Julie has been solving challenging problems on various projects at Pason. However, what she enjoys most is the people.

“Everyone is brilliant, and there is such a great teamwork atmosphere,” she says, adding she also loves photography and gardening.

Julie, who has more than 15 years of software developer experience and works out of our Calgary office, came to Pason after hearing about our unique culture.

“I had colleagues that worked here,” she says. “They said it was more like joining a family than a company.”

Although Julie works on various projects, right now, she’s working on another method for our customers to receive KPI Reports, adding them to Drilling Datamarts.

“This also meets the growing demand to be able to retrieve this data programmatically,” Julie says, adding she works with a great team and enjoys having the freedom to tackle projects and pursue different avenues in developing software solutions.

Julie also does presentations at the University of Calgary’s Women in Computer Science networking events and other networking events for women in STEM.

“Being a part of events related to Women in Computer Science/STEM allows experiences to be shared among colleagues,” she says. “We can bond over shared experiences and give advice to the younger generation of Computer Science professionals.”

She noted the importance of having all walks of life in STEM careers.

“It’s essential not only for women to be part of Computer Science/Stem careers but for everyone. Diversity at work is important and makes for a more well-rounded workplace,” she says.

When asked what advice she’d give anyone who attended these networking events, she says, “Networking is crucial to developing a career, so take advantage of every possible connection.”
